The fuel policy is determined by the car rental provider and varies between different options and locations.
Here is an overview of common fuel policies:
Full to full:
You will collect the vehicle with a full tank of fuel and leave a security deposit. As long as you the vehicle is returned with a full tank, the deposit is released. If it is not returned full, you may be charged for missing fuel and/or a refuelling fee.
Same to same:
The vehicle is supplied with a specific level of fuel, and you need to return it with that same amount of fuel. A fuel deposit may be reserved on your credit card and released only upon the return of the vehicle with the required fuel level. Otherwise, you may be charged for missing fuel.
Pre-Purchase with partial refund:
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel, for which you leave a deposit at the counter. Upon return, you are refunded for unused fuel, but a mandatory, non-refundable administration fee is levied.
Prepaid Fuel:
You pay for a full tank of fuel upon collection and can return the vehicle empty. Generally, no refund is provided for unused fuel, and the inital fuel charge is often at a higher-than-normal rate.
Please refer to your rental agreement for the specific fuel policy applicable to your booking.
